Motorists urged to clear snow off cars

Date published: 02 December 2010

Motorists are being urged to clear snow off their entire car.

Snow piled up on the roof and bonnet could fall reducing visibility for the driver of the vehicle or fall into the path of another vehicle or a pedestrian.

Rumours have suggested that motorists will face a fine for driving with snow on their car.

However, a post on Greater Manchester Police’s twitter page, said: “GMP doesn't have a policy to penalise drivers who leave snow on cars, but asks you ensure your roof and windscreen are clear.”

When driving in wintry conditions, motorists should take extra care and ensure they keep their vehicle well maintained.
