President of Bury Rotary announced

The 2010 President of the Rotary Club of Bury has been announced.
Rotarian Alan Derby will be taking over the role of President for the Rotary Year 2010 - 2011 having been a member since 2002.
The club Assembly and Handover meeting was held Wednesday, 23 June 2010, at the Garsdale, Bury.
The new President Alan Derby was born in 1953 at Fairfield hospital and attended school locally, leaving in July 1968 for further education at Bury Technical College, and then went on to start work two days before his 15th birthday at Webbs Forge Engineering Apprentice School. The company moved to Wigan and joined Wolstenholmes Valves in Radcliffe, with Mr Derby holding positions of senior designer/technical sales manager/business executive.
In 1995 he setup his current engineering company Vep which is based in Bury, providing fabrication and installation services to the water and waste water industry. Two years later in 1997 he had bought the company with current business partner Tom Schofield which now has a combined turnover of £2 million, employing 20 permanent staff and providing a further 25 on contract to blue chip clients.
Mr Derby can be described as a family man, he is married to Pat Derby and has one son James, who is also employed in the business. He has three grandsons Michael, Matthew and Tom.
Mr Derby enjoys Northern Soul, golf, bowling, cricket, and football as well as holding a season ticket with Manchester United.
