Spotlight on Prestwich: Prestwich's New starters
Date published: 20 October 2010
As part of Bury Focus’ 'Spotlight on Prestwich' this month we have been visiting schools in Prestwich to meet the new reception class children.
With half term coming up it seems that the children are all settling in very well.
In the photo gallery we have photographs of reception classes from:
- Our Lady of Grace RC Primary School
- St Hilda’s CE Primary School
- Park View Primary School
- St Margaret’s CE Primary School
- Sedgley park Community Primary School
Park View Primary School’s Reception class teacher Sarah Moran is delighted with how the children are settling in. This half term they are learning about the ‘self’ and soon the children will start to learn about light and dark.
On the run up to bonfire night they will also be learning about fire safety.
There are 34 new starters at Sedgley Park Community Primary on Kings Road, their teacher, Carol Noble, said: “They are settling in really well, at the moment we are learning about phonics and our topic is autumn and we are learning nursery rhymes.”
Over the next few months the children will learn about traditional stories and also begin their number work.
