Appeal to find stolen jewellery

Date published: 10 February 2012

Thousands of pounds worth of jewellery was stolen during a burglary at a house on Ripon Avenue in Whitefield between 7pm and 9.30pm on 2 February 2012.

The thieves forced their way in through the upstairs bedroom - forcing the window off its hinges - before ransacking the house.

They stole a gold bracelet with gold charms, said to be between 80 and 100 years old, a yellow gold solitaire engagement ring with one diamond in 'dated' square setting, and a yellow gold eternity ring with diamonds set around it.

Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Danny Whitaker, from the Volume Crime Unit at Bury, said: "Anyone who has been a victim of burglary will share the feelings the victim is going through right now. Her home and her privacy has been violated, and deeply sentimental items which are utterly irreplaceable stolen.

"The only real peace of mind we can give to the victim is to reunite her with the stolen jewellery, and this is why we are appealing for the public's help.

"We have issued pictures of what the gold bracelet looks like and I would appeal to anyone who is offered either this bracelet, or the two rings described above, to call us immediately. These thieves will surely look to profit by selling the jewellery on, so please if you are a pawnbroker or anyone who is offered these items, read the description of the jewellery carefully and if you are suspicious you are being offered stolen goods call police immediately.

"With your help, we can reunite the victim with her jewellery so please come forward if you have information."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 8115 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
