Date published: 30 October 2011
The Whitefield Halloween Festival continued tonight, 30 October, with a Lantern Parade through the dark of Hamilton Park. Children dressed as witches, skeletons, ghouls and ghosts walked through the pitch black park carrying their lanterns and lighted pumpkins.
They gathered under a tree in the dark to listen to Ghoulish tales.
Earlier in the day there had been pumpkin carving, mystical creature creations, monster masks and traditional Halloween games. There was a 12ft fully animatronics dragon led by the Goblin Queen a minstrels corner, creepy animals, bats, falconry, archery, tarot, hog roast, cider tent and a variety of stalls selling fairtrade and new age products.
Later tonight there was the Halloween Quiz at The White Room followed by showing of a classic horror film as voted by the public.
The Festival continues into All Hallows Eve tomorrow Monday 31 October with another lantern parade at 6.30pm followed by showing of classic horror film at The White Room from 8pm. Truly a spooktacular event, come in fancy dress, there will be plenty of competitions for all ages.
The event was organised by Whitefield Business Group and GM Police and Fire’s Operation Treacle.
