Operation shock tackles drugs in Whitefield

Police in Whitefield carried out Operation Shock to clamp down on drug dealing and misuse in the area.

Officers from the neighbourhood policing team executed a number of search warrants under the misuse of drugs act, focusing on the Besses Ward.

During the three-day operation, which took place on the 21 to 24 June 2011, four people were arrested for a variety of drug-related offences and a small amount of cannabis and heroin were seized from addresses.

Inspector Mark Kenny, from the Whitefield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "The first phase of 'Operation Shock' was a success and we will continue with this work to tackle drugs in the area.

“I would like to thank the community of Besses for their continued support. We will continue to listen to your concerns and take action against those who choose to break the law and create social problems through the misuse of drugs.

"My message is clear, break the law and rest assured that my team will be paying you a visit soon. We will continue to work with local communities to target offenders and bring them to justice.”

Two men have been cautioned, one was released without charge and another has been bailed pending further enquiries.
