Can you make a memorial garden bloom again?
Date published: 01 June 2011
Kind-hearted gardeners are being asked to donate plants to brighten up a sensory memorial garden.
The garden was created at Whitefield Library and Adult Learning Centre in 2008, after a regular member of the Visual Impairment Reading Group passed away. His family wanted to do something in his memory which could be shared by everyone visiting the library.
The garden is in the enclosed quadrangle area and was designed by Anne Elton, visual impairment librarian, with help from Bury Council’s grounds maintenance service.
Although the garden is required to be practical, it also needs to be pretty and perfumed so that it can be appreciated by everyone.
Library staff are appealing for any help that the local community can offer. If you can donate any plants, contact Whitefield Library and Adult Learning Centre on 0161 253 7510 or email whitefield.lib@bury.gov.uk
