Building rubble lands man in trouble
Date published: 11 January 2011
A man who dumped building waste near garages a few miles from his home has pleaded guilty to fly tipping.
Aaron Greenhalgh, aged 22, of Southfield Avenue, Bury, used his own car to dump rubble from a fireplace he was dismantling behind houses in Abingdon Close, Whitefield.
This was witnessed by a local resident who contacted Bury Council’s environmental services department. Greenhalgh was then traced by officers carrying out DVLA checks on his vehicle registration.
Bury magistrates described fly tipping as a serious offence and ordered Greenhalgh to attend an attendance centre for 12 hours, pay clean-up costs of £14 and contribute £50 towards prosecution and investigation costs.
