Radcliffe Athletics Club report
Date published: 10 January 2011
Radcliffe Athletics Club Anna Lupton was fourth woman home in the Greater Manchester Cross Country Championships at weekend.
Lupton, who was one of three Radcliffe runners to take part, will automatically represent Greater Manchester in the Inter Counties Championships in Birmingham in March.
Also competing on the tough 7.2k course at Woodbank Partk, Stockport was Donna Cartwright, whose creditable performance put her in 20th place in a good field. Stu Sharp also showed his growing form by coming just outside the top 20 in a large top class men's race.
Vet 60 John Kirkham took on a challenge of a different kind when he competed in the St Helens Winter Road Duathlon. In cool and bright conditions but battling a stiff cross wind Kirkham completed a three mile run, 10 mile bike ride and a further three mile run in 79m 12secs, placing him 52nd and second vet-60.
