Come and see your PALS in the library

Date published: 24 March 2010

People visiting their local library in Bury and Tottington can expect more than a good read on their next visit. They can also have an informal chat with NHS Bury’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service, known as PALS.

The venues were chosen in a bid to make the service easier to access for local people. PALS can offer advice and support to patients, their families and carers; provide information on NHS services; listen to your concerns, suggestions or queries and help sort out any problems you may have.

Marion Lampert, PALS Manager at NHS Bury said, “By listening to and learning from patients’ experiences, we are able to improve local health services. Feedback and experience has shown that in addition to our helpline, some people like to discuss issues and concerns face to face, and we have responded to this by offering the sessions in libraries”.

The PALS drop-in sessions at the libraries are:

  • Bury Central Library, Manchester Road, Bury BL9 0DG between 10am - 12noon on the 3rd Tuesday of every month
  • Tottington Library, Town Hall, Market Street, Tottington BL8 3LN between 2.30-4.30pm on the 1st Friday of each month

You can contact the PALS service by:

  • Freephone number 0800 328 3166 between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday
  • Visiting their website www.burypct.nhs.uk
  • Email enquiries@bury.nhs.uk
  • Write to PALS at NHS Bury, 2nd Floor, Maple House, 8 Haymarket Street, Bury, BL9 0AR
