Celebrations are under way at a Bury primary school which education watchdogs say is “outstanding” in every respect.

Ofsted has given top marks to Holly Mount RC Primary School in Greenmount in all key measures: the school’s overall effectiveness, achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils, and leadership and management.

Kitchen fire in Tottington kills two dogs

Two dogs died in a fire at a house in Tottington.

Firefighters were called to Sandybrook Close just after 8.30am on Saturday, February 18.

The crews discovered a fire in the kitchen of the semi-detached house which had spread to an upstairs back bedroom.

Man tries to entice teenager into van

A man tried to entice a teenager into his van.

It happened on Tor Hey Mews, Greenmount, Bury, between 5.30pm and 6.15pm on 25 January 2012.

The 13-year-old girl was delivering newspapers when a white van pulled up beside her and the driver asked her to get in the van. She refused and then saw the driver switch off the engine and reach for the door handle.
