Charity cheques received by Ramsbottom Firefighter

A Ramsbottom firefighter was pleased to accept two charity cheques from the Mayor of Bury at the end of August.

Karl Sorfleet, a firefighter at Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, attended a presentation at The Bury Lions Club on behalf of the Service to accept cheques from the club - who made the kind donations of £200 to both The Fire Fighters Charity and Operation Florian.

Formed back in 1967 The Bury Lions Club is a charity that was created by local business people and friends to raise funds to support many worthy causes in Bury.

Karl said: "It's the first time that The Fire Fighters Charity has received a donation from Bury Lions and their gift will be put to good use, helping fire and rescue service workers to recover from injury or illness."
