Drumming up business in the library
Date published: 10 October 2011
Local drummer Tony Fitzgerald certainly drummed up support when he gave youngsters free tuition at Moorside, Brandlesholme and Ramsbottom libraries.
These sessions were among many activities organised by staff at Moorside to give youngsters a chance to try something different.
Tony, who is a self employed drum tutor with Drumsense, happily volunteered his time and use of equipment so that the children could have hands-on experience of learning about drums and rhythm.
Ellen Lowe, community information assistant, said: “The sessions were extremely popular and the children had a great time learning how to play the drums. It was fantastic that Tony, who lives near the library, agreed to provide the free sessions. He said that he felt it was a good thing to do for the kids and saw it as a service to the local community.”
