New focus on life for photography student

Date published: 03 June 2011

Owen Warburton never imagined that enrolling on an adult learning course in Bury would soon change his life.

A complete novice at photography, Owen joined the “Getting to Grips with your Digital Camera” at Ramsbottom Library and Adult Learning Centre last year.

He gradually built up a portfolio of quality images and, after taking wedding photographs for friends, is now considering setting up his own business.

In the meantime, one of his pictures will now be used by Bury Transport Museum in its promotional material.

Owen, aged 27, is an administrator and lives in Haslingden.

His tutor Ian Clegg said: “I was amazed how quickly Owen took to learning and improved his technique, and very impressed with his photography skills. As part of the course, the whole class went on a location shoot to Bury Transport Museum where Owen produced an image so good the museum have asked if they can use it on their promotional material.

“It goes to show that it is never too late to learn and it could be life-changing.”
