Residents help create beauty spot in Ramsbottom
Date published: 07 April 2011
Residents spruced up their district of Ramsbottom by planting fruit trees and edible plants.
The event involved Hazlehurst Tenants and Residents Association, working with officers from Six Town Housing, Incredible Edible (Ramsbottom) and Seddon’s Construction Ltd.
Six Town provided funding for the fruit trees on the grass verges and the plants around the notice board.
Craig Drummond, chair of Hazlehurst TRA, said: "Thank you to everyone who has been involved with the project from start to finish.
“The trees look wonderful and will be much enjoyed by tenants and residents over the coming years. The plants around the notice board look great and will brighten up the area throughout the year. This makes a lovely focal point for the notice board area making it stand out from the grass and the pavement."
Lynn from Incredible Edible (Ramsbottom) said: “It was a smashing afternoon and a really good community atmosphere.”
And Rita Kavanagh, community involvement officer with Six Town, added: “We are very happy to play our part in bringing a touch more greenery to our borough.”
