Fruits of our labours

Date published: 30 March 2011

Volunteers in Ramsbottom have been enjoying a taste of “The Good Life” by planting fruit bushes and trees.

The sun shone in Poplar Grove as local residents joined pupils from Peel Brow Primary School and representatives from Incredible Edible (Ramsbottom), Seddon's Contractors and Six Town Housing.

A mixture of 15 fruit bushes and trees were planted for the community to harvest when the fruits are ready. It follows a previous event when ten fruit trees were planted along the boundary which runs parallel to the motorway.

Rita Kavanagh, community involvement officer at Six Town, said: “It’s great to see everyone join forces in a community event and bring a touch more green to our borough – and, of course, they will one day literally taste the fruits of their labours.”
