Four charged following burglary

Four men have been charged after officers were threatened with machetes following a burglary in Bury.

Shortly after 3pm on Wednesday 1 February 2012, police were called to an address on Seddon Avenue, Radcliffe, following reports intruders, who had broken into the house, had just left.

The vehicle details were circulated to officers and the car was spotted shortly afterwards.

A police car was rammed by the vehicle, a stolen Vauxhall Zafira, on Richmond Close, Whitefield. Officers were also threatened with knives and machetes during the incident.

Kyle Fowler Backhouse of Pendleton and Richard Paul Lucas of no fixed address, have been charged with burglary dwelling and theft, possessing a bladed article in a public place and assault with intent to resist arrest.

Robert Patrick John Dorrian of Pendlebury has been charged with burglary dwelling and theft and possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Michael Jones of no fixed address has been charged with burglary dwelling and theft, possessing a bladed article in a public place, assault with intent to resist arrest, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

All four were due to appear at Bury & Rochdale Magistrates’ Court on 03 February 2012.
