Radcliffe Works - helping local people get into work
Date published: 01 January 2012
Radcliffe Works continues to be a big success helping unemployed people gain valuable skills to help get them a job.
Just one example is Julie Ogden from Hutchinson Way, Radcliffe, who had been unemployed for 12 months prior to her first visit to Radcliffe Works in April 2011.
At the centre, Julie was looking to access help, opportunities and training. Following three visits to Radcliffe Works, Julie had improved her interview skills and confidence.
Julie’s next step was to attend pre-employment training with the hotel and restaurant chain Whitbread’s before finally securing a position working at the new Premier Inn at Knowsley Place in Bury.
Julie said: “I’d like to thank everyone at Radcliffe Works for their help, support and kindness. Visiting the centre certainly made a big difference and helped me take the first steps to employment. I would recommend it to other people who are unemployed and need to get some expert advice.”
Councillor Tony Isherwood, executive member for environment and economy, said: “It is great that this local community service can have a real positive impact on lives. It is really good to see that individuals like Julie can access advice to start them on the journey to full-time employment.”
Radcliffe Works offers services through the Asian Development Association of Bury, Nextstep, Bury College and Bury Council’s libraries and adult learning service.
Radcliffe Works is situated on Blackburn Street in Radcliffe town centre and it is open from 9.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. For further information please contact Radcliffe Works on 0161 723 4013.
