Donna Cartwright is showing her form

Radcliffe AC's Donna Cartwright is showing her form with a fifth place in a road race and a seventh in cross country.

In the City of Salford Ladies 5.25mile Race at Swinton on Sunday she was fifth out of 154 runners in 35mins 22secs. Sheila Jones (V55) was the only other Radcliffe woman taking part and she clocked a creditable 43mins 11secs.

Cartwright was seventh when she competed in the South East Lancs Cross Country League event in Heaton Park, Prestwich. She took her place out of 85 runners and the Radcliffe women finished fifth team.

Next home was Ann Marie McGilvray (V45) in 23rd place: Kath Davies (V45): Eileen Sharman taking the third vet-55 place and Denise Kay (V45).

Among the men it was Stu Sharp who was first home in 20th place out of 156 competitors. Don Whiley (V45) was next: Mark Williams (V45): David Wells: George Critchley (V50); Kevin McGilvray (V55) and Mark Murphy (V40).

John Kirkham (V60) took to the hills in Darwen on Sunday when he ran the David Staff Memorial Fell Race, covering the 5.1 miles and 1,200 feet of climbing in 50mins 29secs.
