South East Lancs League cross country event

Radcliffe AC had a good turnout for the South East Lancs League cross country event at Clayton Vale, Manchester on Sunday with 16 runners taking part.
Stu Sharp was back in action after a long injury and was first home for Radcliffe in 18th place overall out of 131. After some good performances all round with 11 men competing the club were a fine fourth among the teams.
Steve Lomax was next in followed by Gary Wilson (V45): Mark Williams (V45): Dave Bartlett and Rob Andrews who all counted towards the team placing. Vet-45 Don Whiley was next with George Critchley (V50): Kevin McGilvray (V55): Mark Murphy (V40) and Mark Emmett (V50).
Leading the local women home was Anne Marie McGilvray (V45) who was 23rd out of 89 runners. She was followed in by Kath Davies (V45): Eileen Sharman (V55): Rachael Stoney and Denise Kay (V45). They were sixth team.
On the road Paul Rushton, who usually takes on ultra distance races, recently stepped down to the half marathon distance in the BUPA Great Birmingham Run, clocking 1hr 49mins 53secs.
