Witness appeal after man is punched in the face during burglary
Date published: 08 February 2012
Police are appealing for witnesses after two men threatened a family in their home.
At about 7.40pm on Thursday 19 January 2012, police were called to a burglary at Langley Road, Prestwich.
Two men entered the house through an open porch door and kicked their way through the front door.
They shouted abuse at the home owners and threatened them with violence. One of the victims jumped up, but was told to sit down.
He struggled with one of the offenders and punched him in the face.
The intruders left the house empty handed. It is thought they left in a small hatchback parked near the address.
The first offender is described as a white man, 6ft 1in, of slim build, in his mid 20s, with fair hair and distinctive pale blue eyes. He wore a woolly black hat, black trousers and jacket, black gloves and spoke with a Manchester accent.
The second offender is described as a white man, 6ft 2in of slim build, aged between 18 and 20. He wore a dark hooded coat, his mouth and nose were covered, the peak of his cap was visible and he was possibly wearing gloves.
Police Constable Paul Brien, from the Bury Volume Crime Team, said, “These men thought that they could go into a family home when they were enjoying a quiet evening together.
“They had no regard for the people inside who were understandably very shaken by the incident.
“I would urge anyone who many have seen something suspicious or who may recognise the offender descriptions to contact the police.”
