Witness appeal after woman held at knife point

Police are appealing for witnesses after woman was held at knife point in her home.

Shortly after 4.40pm on Wednesday 30 November 2011 police were called to Wilton Street, Prestwich to reports of a robbery.

Two men knocked on the door, the victim answered and was pushed back into her house and they locked the door behind her.

They took her into the living room, one of the men threatened her with a machete and demanded money and gold. They then searched the house.

Whilst the men were searching for the house the victim managed to escape through the front door.

A short time later the men ran out of the house. They had stolen jewellery and other property.

The first man is described as white, 5 ft 10 in, of stocky build wearing a dark coloured balaclava and a dark top and grey tracksuit bottoms. He spoke with a Salford accent.

The second man is described as white, 5 ft 7 in tall, of slight build early 20’s, he has light coloured hair and a slim face. He was wearing a white tracksuit top and smelt strongly of alcohol. He spoke with a Salford accent.

Detective Constable Andrew Pidd, from Bury CID, said, “The victim is very shaken up by this incident.

“Two men knocked on her door in the afternoon and forced their way in, they threatened and demanded money and jewellery from her.

“They stole both her engagement and wedding rings, which have sentimental value and we are appealing to the public to help her get these back.

“If you were in the area and saw these men please contact me with any information.”
