At last! - the 'worst' road in Prestwich is to be re-surfaced!
Date published: 06 July 2011
Prestwich Liberal Democrat Councillors have been lobbying Bury Council to re-surface Meade Hill Road and residents are delighted that this is to happen over the next few weeks.
Councillor Ann Garner asked the Council's Highways department to consider the road as shot, dangerous and asked for a 20mph sign and safety notices to be erected after last winter's weather took its toll and damaged the surface beyond hole-filling repairs.
'I have had so many complaints from residents about possible damage to their cars as well s from residents who see cars driving too fast on a poor road surface that then have problems braking. Everybody will be pleased to see the surface replaced.'
Bury Council is using part of its additional grant of £400k, from the Coalition Government to fund repairs. This funding is to help Councils repair its worst roads after the dreadful winter we’ve suffered.
As Meade Hill Road had become of particular concern, it is now scheduled to be resurfaced from Sheepfoot Lane to Windsor Road, starting on the 18th July 2011. Prior to commencement, residents will receive leaflets detailing the extent of the works and who to contact if there are any problems.
