Bury College outstanding Vocational success

Congratulations to Siobhan MacKenzie-Barlow who was one of the exceptional achievers at Bury College this year. The former pupil of Castlebrook High School achieved a Triple Distinction in her BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts.
Siobhan will now progress to the University of Salford to study Performing Arts (Acting). Of her time at Bury College, Siobhan said, “I’ve loved every minute of it! The staff have been amazing and have helped me so much. I could not have done it without them!”
Mentoring for Excellence student Scott Bannister was one of the exceptional achievers at Bury College this year. The former pupil of The Derby High School achieved a Triple Distinction in his BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology.
A winner of the Bury College Award for Exceptional Achievement, Scott will now progress to Lancaster University to study Music Technology. Of his time at Bury College, Scott said, “It’s been very good. Bury College is a good environment to learn in and my mentors have help me on track to achieve my grades.”
Congratulations to former Philips High School pupil James Lloyd who was one of the exceptional achievers at Bury College this year. James achieved a Distinction and two Merits in his Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
James was overjoyed with his results and will now progress to the University of Salford to study Aviation Technology with Pilot Studies. James, 18 from Bury, aims to become a pilot. Of his time at Bury College, James said, “The course was great. The practical sessions were good fun and the standard of teaching was excellent. The tutors made lessons interesting.”
Congratulations to former Castlebrook High School pupils Daniel Kelly and Dane Cunningham who were two of the exceptional achievers at Bury College this year. Both students achieved a Triple Distinction, Daniel in Interactive Media and Dane in Sport.
Daniel, age 18 from Bury, will now progress to the University of Huddersfield to study Graphic Design. Daniel said, “I’ve had a great experience at Bury College and have learnt a lot. The course really pushed me to excel and achieve high grades.” Daniel has also gained work experience at a Graphic Design agency in Ramsbottom to gain a better understanding of what a career as a designer involves.
If his time at Bury College, Dane said, “I enjoyed every minute of my time at here and am very happy I chose to come to Bury College.”
Congratulations to former Castlebrook High School pupil Ben Bostock who was one of the exceptional achievers at Bury College this year. Ben achieved a Triple Distinction in his National Diploma in Media Production and a grade A in A Level Film Studies.
Ben, age 18 from Bury, will now progress to Staffordshire University to study Experimental Film Production. Of his time at Bury College Ben said, “It’s been highly enjoyable and worthwhile.”
This is another year that Bury College’s Advanced Level results reinforce the recent Ofsted inspection, which established that Bury College remains outstanding in all areas. Bury College is currently the highest performing further education college in Greater Manchester.
