Childcare Apprentices’ hard work recognised with visit to Early Excellence Centre

Date published: 16 July 2011

12 Childcare Apprentices from Bury College were recently rewarded for their hard work and commitment with a visit to the Early Excellence Centre in Huddersfield. The Centre informs and inspires senior managers and practitioners in developing a deeper understanding of quality practice in early year’s provision.

During the visit the Apprentices were shown ways to enhance the layout and resources of the nurseries they currently work in and were then rewarded with money to invest in resources for their workplace.

Apprentice Jacqui Young, who currently works as a Nursery Assistant at Toddlers Pre-school Nursery in Whitefield, said “I was very surprised and pleased to receive the award to visit the Early Excellence Resource Centre for the day. The centre gave me lots of ideas for different resources, which can be used for a variety of activities. I especially liked the outdoor resources, including the tent and camping equipment. I purchased two books from the centre to take back to nursery, which the children love.”

Diane Tasker, General Manager at Toddlers Pre-school Nursey, is pleased with Jacqui’s progress throughout her Apprenticeship so far, “Jacqui has worked with Toddlers Pre-School Learning since January 2009 as a Nursery Assistant. She has worked extremely hard showing commitment and dedication to both her work and her studies and has now proudly gained an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education. Her commitment, standard of work and drive to succeed have been recognised and acknowledged in the form of a visit to the Early Excellence Centre in Huddersfield.”
