The Piazza opens on College Campus
Date published: 12 July 2011
Students and staff at Bury College were treated to the opening of the College’s new Piazza and Coffee shop, located in the heart of the Market Street campus. Offering fresh Costa Coffee and Chartwell’s Sandwiches, Panini’s and Cakes; the Coffee shop was successfully opened on schedule.
The Piazza also boasts a new canopy area for students, staff and visitors to relax and socialise. This new development adds to the College’s existing café’s and refectories at the Woodbury Centre, Millennium Centre, Beacon Centre and Prospects Centre.
Charlotte Pagett, a former pupil of Woodhey High School is studying Childcare at Bury College. She said “The coffee shop is great because the coffee is slightly cheaper and having this on campus is brilliant. The design is really modern and provides us with more places for us to sit.”
Bury College Principal and Chief Executive; Lauran Chatburn CBE said of the completed new development, “The Piazza, canopies and Costa Coffee make the campus look and feel even more like a university. It’s exactly what our students and staff have said they want. It’s such an aesthetically pleasing design. We are delighted.”
The College will continue to expand its campus even further this year with a £7 million investment to extend and improve the Woodbury Centre building, which is due for completion in Autumn 2012. Work on the Woodbury Centre will include a brand new Learning Resource Centre and library; new industry standard Art Studios; improved IT resources; and a modern internal landscaped courtyard.
