Fell Race - tough 7 miles in wet conditions

Date published: 19 December 2011

Radcliffe AC's Mark Cartwright was the only club member to take part in the Mytholmroyd Fell Race and was pleased, after running the tough seven miles in wet conditions, with his time of 70mins 56secs.

Cartwright (V40), the club's fell manager, has been battling against injury and was one of 100 competitors who covered the 1,350 feet of climbing and made the new date for the event a success. It had previously been held later in the season.

On Sunday vet 60 John Kirkham took on tricky conditions in fresh snow but under clear blue sky when he was one of 256 finishers in the Stoop Fell Race at Haworth, Keighley.

Covering five miles and 800 feet of climbing Kirkham clocked 47mins 47secs and was 199th and sixth vet 60.
