Football, fitness and fun

Date published: 16 November 2011

Weekly football sessions have been organised for young men and women, and there’s no pressure to become the next Lionel Messi.

The whole emphasis is on taking part, making new friends, getting fit and learning new skills.

The sessions have just started and take place every Monday until 19 December at Radcliffe Riverside High School, from 5pm to 6pm. They are open to young people aged 16-plus, both male and female, and there’s no need to book – just turn up, and pay £1 per session.

The course has been organised by Bury Football Development Forum, with funding from the England Football Foundation.

People who attend have the opportunity to access some funding towards coaching qualifications such as Level 1 in Football coaching or the Junior Football Organisers course. Participants can also join Bury Sport and Physical Activity Service and become a volunteer.
