Sportivate - find us on Facebook

Date published: 28 October 2011

Young people aged 14-25 are invited to get on Facebook and discover new sporting opportunities.

Sportivate is a new programme for teenagers and young adults inspired by sport and the London 2012 Olympics. It encourages take-up of sport, whether that be football, hockey, badminton, or the latest dance fitness craze Zumba.

If you look at the Bury Sport and Physical Activity Service on Facebook, you can find out more about what Sportivate activities are on offer in Bury.

And the first 100 people to “like” the fan page will be entered into a prize draw for a £30 voucher to be spent on The Rock. The address is www.facebook.com/burysportandphysicalactivityservice

Jennie Price, Sport England’s chief executive, said: “Lots of young people think sport isn’t for them. I would like them to have the chance to discover whether there is a sport they really enjoy, so this programme is all about choice. Everyone who takes part will receive high quality coaching – giving them the confidence and skills which will make them want to keep playing in the future.”

By taking part in Sportivate, you could secure tickets to the greatest show on earth: Sportivate and London 2012 are working together to give people the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend next year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games.
