Swinton 10 mile road race

Radcliffe AC had a great turnout for the Swinton 10 mile road race with 13 runners taking part.
Steven Lomax was first home for the club in 1hr 06mins 25secs, finishing a creditable 34th out of 177 competitors and Donna Cartwright was first among the Radcliffe women running 1hr 12mins 49secs and coming eighth woman.
Coming in closely behind Lomax were Rob Shiels in 1hr 07mins 12secs and Mark Williams (V45) clocking 1hr 08mins 25secs, Lomax had managed to pick them off on the second lap of the event.
Don Whiley (V45) ran 1hr 13mins 58secs: Steve Hamer (V50) clocked 1hr 14mins 08secs: Shauna Murphy clocked 1hr 17mins 49secs. John Scarlett, doing well in his races, was second junior in 1hr 21mins 13secs: John Kirkham was fourth vet 60 in 1hr 24mins 40secs: Sheila Jones third vet 55 in 1hr 25mins 27secs: Kath Davies (V45) clocked 1hr 26mins 59secs: Eileen Royle was third vet 60 in 1hr 27mins 39secs and Denise Kay (V45) ran 1hr 36mins 16secs.
The race was part of the Central Lancs Grand Prix series in which several local clubs take part and was also a race in the Radcliffe road championships.
