New online medical service launched to help the people of Bury
Date published: 19 March 2010
The people of Bury are to benefit from a brand new online medical service that was launched yesterday.
The BARDOC website (Bury & Rochdale Doctors On Call) allows patients to access the latest important health information and other services offered by BARDOC.
The organisation is the GP Out of Hours Service Provider commissioned by NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale and NHS Bury.
During the Out of Hours period they are responsible for the urgent health needs of over 450,000 patients.
Dr. Nick Dawes, Chair of BARDOC said: “Our new site aims to give our patients and carers vital information and access to BARDOC services, for too long our patients have been telling us they are unaware of the full range of services they can access at BARDOC. Our new site will go a long way to change this for both patients and doctors”
Paul Mainwaring, Director of Patient and Public Engagement said: “As a patient living with a long term condition, my family and I know just important and essential it is to have easy access to the latest information on local health services. “
The BARDOC site will give people information about its services without delay, and people who are unable to access the internet can call them with any questions.
The website has also been designed to enable patients and carers to give direct feedback which enables BARDOC to learn and react to local people’s enquiries.
Further developments will see patients being able to sign up and receive the BARDOC quarterly news updates.
To access BARDOC online, simply visit www.bardoc.co.uk or to contact them by phone, call 0161 763 4242.
