NHS Bury Chair to retire

Mrs Hilda S Harvey MBE will retire from the position of Chair of NHS Bury (Bury Primary Care Trust) with effect from 31 January 2010 following a period of ill health. Mrs Harvey has fulfilled the post since the creation of the Primary Care Trust in April 2002.

Mrs Harvey said: "It has been an honour to serve the local community as Chair of Bury PCT for almost eight years during which time we have begun to transform the local NHS into a responsive modern service, fit for future generations in Bury. I have been lucky to have worked with fantastic NHS staff, which has made my time as Chair a pleasure, similarly the support of the rest of the Board over the years has been unswerving.

I am an ordinary person who has been given the opportunity to work with an extraordinary group of dedicated professionals to improve the health and well being of our community. I have been privileged to have been able to undertake a role that I love. I wish to take this opportunity to wish the organisation well as it enters a new phase beset by fresh challenges and opportunities."
