Stress Down In Your Local Library
Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 30 January 2008
This Friday has been pronounced Stress Down Day by national charity the Samaritans and in two local libraries people are being given the chance to do just that.
The council has teamed up with the Mind and Body Centre in Bury to offer 15 minute massage sessions throughout the day at Tottington and Radcliffe libraries for just pound;5. Bury Primary Care Trust's Health Trainers have also joined in and will be offering advice on giving up smoking, getting fit for 2008, sleep problems and alcohol issues.
Councillor Yvonne Creswell Executive Member for Community Engagement said: quot;According to national statistics one in five people suffers from workplace stress, with half a million people reporting they have become ill as a result. The idea of our stress down day is to highlight the issue of workplace stress and raise money for charity at the same time. We hope that our staff and members of the community will benefit from the taster sessions and give themselves a treat this Friday."
