Reporter: Ask Bury

Local probationers have just completed work to spruce up the tired looking area around Tottington Bus Terminus. Working on a community pay back scheme, 5 people and their supervisor have transformed the area into a green haven with new flower beds in just a few days.

The area had been identified as needing some TLC by  Tottington traders group, who meet regularly with the Local Area Partnership Manager and  Tottington Ward Councillors. The project was funded by Ramsbottom, Tottington and North Manor Local Area Partnership and it cost pound;1200.  The Parks and Countryside service, who designed the new look area, will be putting in a new bench and bin and will keep the area looking tidy.

Area Board Chair Sheila Magnall said: ldquo; We are delighted with the result, it really has transformed the area. Beforehand it was dull and uninteresting and seemed to attract litter. It needed greening up a bit to improve its appearance. It is great to see the payback scheme working to produce something with such a positive end result that can be enjoyed by all.”
