Four Arrested - Prestwich

Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 04 March 2008

Four men have been arrested after officers on patrol in the Prestwich area spotted a stolen car yesterday afternoon.

Just before 3.10pm yesterday, Monday 3 March 2008, officers on Fairfax Road saw a Toyota Corolla driving at speed away from them.

Checks confirmed that the car had been stolen in a robbery on Upper Park Road in Broughton Park last night, Sunday 2 March 2008.

During the robbery two men had threatened the 50-year-old victim with a mirror, threatening to smash it over his head if he refused to hand over the keys to his cars.

After the stolen car was spotted today a pursuit ensued. This was halted on Bury New Road, close to Park Road, after police officers forced the stolen car to stop.

All four occupants of the car were then arrested on suspicion of robbery offences.

The four 18-year-olds remain in police custody for questioning.
