Is the future bright with Prestwich Local Area Partnership?
Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 27 February 2008
That’s the big question at Prestwich Local Area Partnership Meeting at 6.30pm on Tuesday 4th March at Sedgley Park Primary School, Kings Road.
In December 2007 Bury Council appointed the urban design and regeneration consultancy URBED, together with the specialist regeneration surveying practice ADGR, to produce the Masterplan and Development Strategy. The intention is that once completed the masterplan and development strategy will be adopted by Bury Council as a Material Planning Consideration.
URBED will present their quot;Baseline Analysis" of the current state of Prestwich. There will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions to URBED and Council Officers about the initial findings and what is involved in preparing the Prestwich Village: Town Centre Development Strategy.
Chair of Prestwich Local Area Partnership Cllr Vic D’Albert said ldquo;I think the future is bright for Prestwich. A thriving Prestwich Village is the top priority for Prestwich Local Area Partnership. We are delighted that this study is being done and hopeful that Prestwich really can become a thriving village centre again. Comments from local people are really important to get this vision right. Please come to the meeting or visit www.bury.gov.uk/prestwichregeneration to find out more.”
Other agenda items include grant awards over pound;20,000, an update on Highfield Road transport problems and a recommendation about recreation facilities at Heaton Park primary school.
