£2m Cash Boost for Bury Homes

Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 26 March 2008

Thanks to a lot of hard work from the council and its housing association partners, Bury has received a cash boost of £2,441,000 which will help to build 57 new homes during 2008/11.

Homes will be built on three sites, two in Prestwich and one in Ramsbottom, and three housing associations are involved; Great Places Housing Group, Contour, and Irwell Valley.

Marcus Connor who heads up Bury Council's Housing Governance team said:" The allocation from the Housing Corporation is a welcome boost to our efforts to meet housing need in the Borough. Previously Bury has not done well in this allocation so we are really pleased with this week's announcement. We've worked really hard to raise the profile of housing need in the Borough in order to get this grant."

The schemes will provide a good mix of housing, including special needs, social rented and shared ownership; flats, bungalows and houses.
