Whitefield & Unsworth Area board meeting has packed agenda

Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 30 May 2006

Whitefield amp; Unsworth Area Board will be meeting on June 5 at St Michael's Church Hall, Ribble Drive from 7pm to meet with local residents and discuss the issues which matter to them.

This month’s agenda will include updates from the Area Tasking Team which is designed to look at crime hotspots and address any youth nuisance issues. Each month there will be updates for the residents on problems that were raised in the previous meeting.

Local police and the youth service will also be at the meeting to provide updates.

One of the high priorities for the area board is the new Ribble Drive Safety Scheme and residents will be given their chance to contribute on the planning and implementation of the scheme at this month’s meeting.

Community grants available will also be publicised to community groups needing a cash injection and local residents without a brown recycling bin will be given the opportunity to walk away with one of ten compost bins donated by the council’s waste management team.

Area Board Chair Michelle Wiseman said: ldquo; As always we have a packed agenda this month but we would encourage the local community to come along and use the 45 minute open forum to give us their views and concerns about living in Whitefield and Unsworth, I can’t stress strongly enough that if we don’t know about it, we can’t address it ndash; come along and have your say”.

The area board is made up of elected councillors, police and community organisations. It meets six times a year and all meetings are public.
