Bury Market is gearing up for busy bank holiday

Bury Markets will be expecting a flourishing time over this Spring Bank Holiday with many coaches expected to bring visitors from far and wide keen to experience the shopping and hospitality that has made the markets so famous.

Both of Bury's market halls will remain open everyday with the exception of 1 May and 29 May and the Sundays over the Spring Bank Holiday with the World Famous Markets opening as usual on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Bury Market is currently enjoying great success with its recent win at the inaugural Best British Market of the Year competition and the news that in the last year the market has received almost 700 coach visits bringing shoppers from all over the country.

Bury Markets International reputation is burgeoning also with traders on the market hailing from places all over the world such as Greece, Pakistan, India, South Africa, China and Italy to name a few. Exports are also taking off with some of the food stalls shipping their goods to locations far around the globe.

Bury is proud of its international reputation and already had twin town status with diverse locations such as Angouleme in France and Datong in the Shanxi province of China amongst others. The global success of Bury Markets contributes greatly to Bury evolving into a cultural cosmopolitan area.

A recent visitor to the market Mrs Lucy Myddleton of South Africa said, "Bury Market is brilliant! We have markets in Johannesburg, but there is none that is anything like as good as Bury Market."
