Bury markets welcomes two Councils in one day

Bury’s World Famous Markets welcomed more senior officers, traders and members from Lincolnshire and Rochdale on November 1 all hoping the learn Bury Markets secrets to success.
Visitors included Bob Kelly from North Lincolnshire Market Traders Federation and councillor from Rochdale also joined the impromptu visit to speak with Markets management and to tour the markets. These visitors once again came along to see the major achievements Bury Markets have made in the past few years and to study their continuing success.
As locals we all appreciate our market and have enjoyed many days worth of shopping all year whatever the weather, but now it seems we should be even more proud as we continue to lead the way in Markets success on a national level.
In a letter, Bob Kelly from North Lincolnshire Market Traders federation said: "Just a few lines to say how much our group of traders enjoyed our visit to your market today. We were all impressed with what you had to say and by the way the market was run and promoted by yourself and your team. We agreed that Bury Market is the worthy titleholder of Market of the Year, of that there is no doubt. I will pass on your name and email address to our market managers and relevant council officials with regard to the seminars you hold. Perhaps they can learn how markets should be run."
Bury Market is visited by hundreds of thousands of satisfied shoppers each week and has dominated the retail sector in the locality for over 500 years thanks to it huge selling area and diverse and often award winning stalls and products. This is a visitor attraction which has the enviable reputation of "Burys World Famous Market’ from the many customers from all over the world who keep coming back to visit.
Councillor Mike Connolly, Deputy Leader of Bury Council said: "Most markets across the country are starting to lose business in light of the huge competition they face from out of town superstores but Bury Market is shunning that trend and continues to prosper with a great team behind it. Let us continue to lead the way and provide a fantastic market for the people of the borough and our visitors."
