The RNLI has more than 230 stations across the country and the average cost of just one lifeboat station is £20,000 per year. The money raised from the RNLI SOS day will help them train more crews enabling them the rescue an average of 22 people a day.

All donations can be made via the Business Support Unit within the Town Hall, Whittaker Street and the Seedfield site.  Alternatively, money can be paid in direct on income code 1585W000018SN7.

Councillor Mike Connolly, Deputy Leader of the council said: "The work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution deserves everyone’s full support; they provide a 24-hour lifesaving service in the UK and Republic of Ireland every day of the year and rely on public support to continue this service".

To make other donations to the RNLI you can contact the donations hotline on 0845 121 4999 or log onto www.rnlipdd.org.uk/donation
