New subsidised class hopes to get locals fit and active

Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 23 January 2007

A new women’s fitness class has been introduced to Broad Oak Sports Centre by Bury East Sports Association (BESA) in partnership with Bury Council’s Leisure Services team.

The class will begin on Monday evenings from February 6 and will be subsidised until the end of March by the new Neighbourhood Management initiative. The 45 minute classes cost just £2 and have been introduced as a response to the demand from the BESA membership to help improve access to Broad Oak Sports centre for the local community.  It is hoped that the sessions will encourage women from Bury East to use the centre and increase their activity levels.  Booking is not essential.

BESA is also working with the management of Broad Oak Sports Centre management to employ a female gym instructor once a week in order to open up access to the gym for women only on a weekly basis.  If you have any questions about the session please contact Broad Oak Sports centre on 0161 765 3501.

For any other enquiries about booking use of the gym, sports hall, dance studio or artificial turf pitch, please contact the duty officer during weekday evenings on 0161 765 3501
