A chance to have your say about Bury Housing

Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 14 March 2007

The Annual General Meeting of Bury Housing Forum will be held on March 29 at Seedfield Training and Development Centre, Parkinson Lane, giving local people the chance to help put together the housing policy for the borough of Bury.

The forum is led by Bury Council’s Governance, Strategy and Quality Team and everyone is welcome to attend. The focus of this meeting is to elect new members for the Housing Forum Steering Group and to elect a Chair. There will also be an update on Bury’s Housing Action plan and two presentations providing updates on previous housing forum topics including Domestic Violence and Affordable Housing, which are currently key issues for Bury. Attendees will also be invited to discuss via a workshop the topics that they would like to see covered at future housing forum events.

The Housing Forum offers an excellent opportunity for tenants, residents, local businesses and service providers to aid in the development of Bury’s housing strategy and get involved in shaping the way housing services are delivered. Residents who attend are also being given the opportunity to win a DVD player in our prize draw.

Registration for the event begins at 9.30am with the presentations and workshops starting at 10.00am and running through until 12.30pm. Refreshments will be provided at registration and mid-morning.

This event is certainly worthwhile attending. The team are keen for as many people as possible to come along and discuss the housing issues that matter to them. For details on how to book a place or on how to nominate someone for the steering group please contact Caroline Wolfenden on 0161 253 6794 or email to c.wolfenden@bury.gov.uk as soon as possible.

Bury Housing Forum was set up to give everyone the opportunity to contribute to how Bury’s Housing Service delivered.  More than just a landlord, the Housing Service is also responsible for providing housing advice and support, ensuring that all the housing needs of Bury’s residents are met and is active in making Bury a better place to live.

The Housing Forum events are held approximately 4-6 times a year, usually in the Elizabethan Suite on a Thursday morning.  Everyone is welcome to attend the events to contribute and give their views on the issues being discussed.
