Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 21 February 2007
A man was interviewed by police on Thursday 15th February at the request of Bury Council’s Environmental Services Officers in connection with a flytipping incident in Outwood, Radcliffe.
He then attended Radcliffe police station voluntarily for interview in connection with the continuing investigation into the flytipping incident in which over 500 tonnes of soil and builders waste was dumped on land in the Community Park adjacent to the Nature Trail.
The man who is 25 years old and who comes from Breightmet had refused to give the council representatives his details and the police were called.
Councillor John Byrne Executive Member for Environment and Transport said: ldquo;The response from the public has been overwhelming, we are delighted that our community care so passionately about their environment and want to help us catch these irresponsible criminals. ldquo;
The council last week appealed for a witness to come forward who walks his dog each morning in the park. The witness had approached the council with some information but failed to leave his contact details, he has now been in touch and will be interviewed shortly.
Bury Council are continuing the investigation and if anyone has any information please contact Environmental Services Department, Bury Council on 0161 253 5566.
