Sunny Bank Primary school in Bury is celebrating a good verdict on this years’ Ofsted inspection which praises the school for providing good care, guidance and support.

Inspectors found that the school promotes the pupils’ health, welfare and security well and achieves excellent results by providing good personal development and well-being. Pupils at the school were found by the independent education watchdog to have good attitudes to learning and said that they clearly enjoyed coming to school

Pupils at the school also get to have their say. They told inspectors that; "Learning is fun, teachers make us work hard but also make us laugh." The parents also had praise for the school and agreed wholeheartedly that their children were well cared for by teaching staff at the school.

The school was awarded satisfactory grades overall, equating to a level three, with many areas receiving a "good’ level two. The areas receiving highest praise were personal development and wellbeing, care guidance and support.

Mike Green  Headteacher from the school said: "I have yet to meet a Headteacher who is happy with the word "satisfactory’.  What this actually means is that the school is making effective provision for the children and they are achieving within the expected range of attainment.  We’re really pleased that many aspects of our school have been graded as good and that we have improved since our last inspection. Our children’s results are above the national average in English and Maths and in line with the national average in Science and what counts at the end of the day is that our pupils are well cared for and becoming the best that they can be."

The Ofsted report said that the pupil’s behaviour was good and found that the older pupils were gentle with younger ones.

It found that the school provided a varied range of activities inside and outdoors to engage the children’s interests and contribute well to their good progress.

The pupils at Sunny Bank feel safe in school and the Headteacher successfully promoted pupil’s personal development.  School Governors were also mentioned in the report as were noted as functioning well.

Mike concluded: "We are grateful for the support of our parents and are proud of our children and staff, and we are determined to make further progress. If you have any queries arising from the report, please do not hesitate to contact us at school."
