Man pleads guilty in connection with David Lees murder

Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 15 July 2007

A 27-year-old man from Longsight who fabricated the sale of the car that knocked David Lees down in Prestwich last year has pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.

Arfan Javed (born 18/01/80) of Clitheroe Road pleaded guilty to the offence at Bolton Crown Court yesterday, Thursday 12 July 2007.

Javed's stories prevented police from ever finding the Vauxhall Vectra, which would have given them the best opportunity to identify the driver and occupants.

David, aged 23, died at North Manchester General Hospital after being knocked down by a car on Middleton Road during a disturbance outside the BP garage a short time before at about 00.50am, Saturday 28 October 2006.

Sentencing has been adjourned until 31 August 2007, when full details of the case will be available.
