Keeping it in the family...
Date published: 10 February 2012
The Diggle family from Heywood all got the diving bug when dad Tony 51 and son Tom 14, who on a recent trip to Egypt had a go at diving. On returning to the UK they decided to join local BSAC dive club Bury Sub Aqua 601 to enable them to get properly qualified.
Tony and Tom who are currently taking their Ocean Diver training, were joined in the pool by Tony’s mum Doreen aged 74 who said: “I’ve always wanted to have a go at scuba diving and when Tony and Tom said they were joining a dive club I took the opportunity of having a try dive”.
She went on to say: “I don’t think I will do the full training like my son and grandson, but I’ve now been able to fulfil a long held dream of finding out what being able to swim and breathe underwater is all about and I loved every minute”.
Both Tony and Tom want to continue with their training as much as possible and are really looking forward to doing some UK diving, especially around the Scottish coast.
