Man charged following kidnap incident

A 32-year-old has been charged in connection with the kidnap of a woman earlier this week.

Owen Lawrence, of no fixed address, but formally of Lune Walk, Whitefield, has been charged with one offence of kidnap and two offences of sexual assault.

He was due to appear before Bury Magistrates Court on Wednesday 8 February 2012.

At about 8.50am on Monday, 6 February 2012, a 35-year-old woman was dropping off her child at school on Ribble Drive, Whitefield, when four people suddenly got into the vehicle.

She was ordered to drive to Bolton magistrates court and was sexually assaulted. In an unconnected incident, later that same day another woman was also sexually assaulted at the Dragonfly pub, on Broadgate, Bolton.

No further action will be taken against two other men and a woman arrested in connection with the incident on Ribble Drive, Whitefield.
