Man charged following fatal collision

A serving police officer has been charged in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Bury.

Brendan Buggie, aged 38, of Bury – who is currently suspended from duties - has been charged with causing death by driving without due care and attention whilst unfit through drink.

He is due to appear at Bury Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 15 February 2012.

At 12.40am on Monday 5 December 2011, a Toyota Celica, that was being driven along Manchester Road, Ramsbottom, collided with a stationary van.

The front seat passenger, 26-year-old Justyna Stanczak, was taken to hospital but later died.
