Focus on the Year of the Photograph
Date published: 05 February 2012
Bury folk are being urged to dig out their old photographs of the town to be put on display and preserved for future generations.
2012 is the Year of the Photograph at Bury Archives and staff hope you can search high and low in your house for old photographs, albums, glass plates, postcards, slides or negatives of people and life in Bury over the years.
There is a different theme each month: February looks at schools, education, childhood and Sunday school, while March concentrates on industry, factories, mills and manufacturing.
Bury Archives Service collects, preserves and provides access to unique documentary records of historical value relating to the borough, its organisations, people and communities
Please take your picture memories to Bury Archives, in Moss Street, Bury. You can also drop them off at your local branch library and ask staff to send them to Bury Archives.
